It's 10:30 AM on a Friday and I've already accomplished things. I don't even know who I am. But I got up early and talked to my academic advisor from UWF. For someone who is getting advised relatively late, I got a good schedule.

M/W/F 10-1: Introduction to Public Relations, Graphics for Communications, Legislative Process
W 6: Democracies (political science minor whooo)
Online: Newspaper Journalism

So Tuesday and Thursday I am doing whatever the hell I want. Which will probably be watching all the Wedneday shows I miss.

I'm not sure what my graphics class entails but I do know that I know absolutely NOTHING about graphics. The only graphics program I have ever used is Paint. So since there are so many good artists on my flist, maybe someone would be willing to give me some basic tutorials over the summer so I don't walk in there knowing absolutely nothing?

I have a lot of ~feelings~ about what's going on in the state of Community, but I'll put it under a cut for those that are either sick of the stuff or don't care.

We Could Have Had It Alllll )

This cat? Looks exactly like my Giz if Gizmo had money. It's from this tumblr, which is basically about people taking pictures of their cats with money. It's pretty much exactly what the internet is about.

Now it's 11 o'clock and I don't have to go anywhere until 7 tonight. I have no idea what to do other than watch The Price is Right. What do you people do all day with your time???

Finally all the schedules have been released. And my hulking behemoth of a schedule is prepared. I have no idea how I'm going to do this without a DVR because I'm pretty sure you can't bring your DVR to college. Thank god for my ABC and CW apps. And Hulu. I may have to invest in Hulu.

Unfortunately, a lot of the new shows that I want to try may have to get cut unless Sophia Bush is in them because I don't care how freaking bad Partners is, I'm watching the fuck out of that show. I'm almost not sure if I want to even give Last Resort a try because the 8 PM death slot just got deathier since CBS moved Two and A Half Men there. Luckily, Fridays and Sundays are pretty clear. Just enough time to get caught up on everything else, I guess.

Schedule is below the cut. New shows are linked to their trailers (except for the CW, who hasn't released trailers yet, but I'll edit those in later). A lot of these aren't viewable in countries outside the U.S. I am sorry. ETA: Trailers for the CW are here. They're not on YouTube yet as far as I know. ETA2: YouTube links now in the post.

You are not prepared )

For my fellow college friends, how do you do the watching at college? I mean, in a not actual live capacity. Are colleges cool with direct downloads, just not torrenting? Do you stream everything? If so, where? If you want me to screen your comment, just let me know.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers and future mothers on my flist. <3 I hope someone made you breakfast in bed.

It is telling that yesterday started with me stabbing a two liter bottle of coke. I had work after that, so it pretty much all went downhill from there.

But it's upfronts week, which is like the two weeks of Christmas for TV nerds and I am probably going to talk about it all week. BE PREPARED.

I have a lot of ~feelings~ on things that were renewed and canceled. Obviously, not a lot of feelings on things that were definitely going to get renewed (obviously I'm happy that SPN was renewed and sicked that Glee and TVD were, etc, etc), so this is mostly going to be about bubble shows. I will put it under a cut because I love you all. For reference, here is a complete list of renewed/canceled shows.

Ramblings of a communications major )

Only the CW and NBC have released their new shows but I'm going to talk about them anyway.

This is the list of the new CW shows. Obviously I am most excited for Arrow. I mean, I love Green Arrow and IT HAS KATIE CASSIDY. AUTOMATIC WINNER. Please please pleeeease let her wear fishnets. I BEG OF YOU.

First Cut will probably be paired with Hart of Dixie and it's got Justin Hartley and Jack Coleman, so automatic watch. The Carrie Diaries was just going to be something I might check out until I saw this name: Freema Agyeman *GIMME HANDS* Cult has some internet buzz that I hope means it'll be worth watching. I hope Alona Tal and Matt Davis can cancel out supreme show killer Jessica Lucas. I will probably watch Beauty and the Beast just because I have no idea how the CW will do a procedural and I want to see. It's also got some good names attached.

NBC's schedule is a travesty. They only have two new dramas airing in the fall and a few more in the spring. There's a ton of comedies but I don't know if any of them are worth watching. Poor Justin Bartha having to work with Ryan Murphy. :( Also not sure about moving the Voice to fall, but I guess we'll see.

As far as fall dramas go, obviously the one I'm most anticipating is Revolution. I mean, Kripke, JJ Abrams, the guy who directed Iron Man, and the one person from Twilight other than Anna Kendrick who can act? It has all the components of something truly awesome, which means it's either going to be really good or really bad. The only other fall drama is a firefighting procedural, but it has the pretty guy from House, so I'll give it at least a pilot watch. The midseason shows all seem a little eh; whether I give most of them a shot probably depends on where they fall in the schedule.

ETA: The Revolution trailer is here. It looks REALLY GOOD. NBC has the rest of their trailers up as well.

The only comedy I really want to talk about is 1600 Penn. I'll probably give it a shot, but what really stood out to me was this "“Modern Family” meets “The West Wing” in this election-year comedy". EXCEPT. It's midseason. Which means it's supposed to air in the spring. WHICH IS NOT AN ELECTION YEAR. Even if it is used a replacement for a fall show, it's unlikely that it will air before the election is over. WHO PLANNED THIS??

Talk to me about shooooows.

This is basically how I feel right now:

The last few days have been so many emotions. It's just. I'm so tired. Thank god my boss called and said I didn't have to work today. I'm not even sure I would have made it through a three hour shift.

Real life things that I need to get off my chest because it's not true until you post it on LJ, right? )

I am both excited and disappointed about Community. Excited because it was picked up and disappointed that it looks like they're planning on 13 and done. Cougar Town is moved to TBS, but it's getting 15 episodes so super happy.

So it's been a long, exhausting day and I'm sure I'm going to have to be on the phone for several hours tomorrow, so I am going to go to bed. Have a great weekend, everyone. <3

So today was my graduation! It went really well even though my feet started to hurt from all the standing and waiting in line like it was Disney World. But I graduated and walked across the stage and didn't fall, so that was good. Jill Biden, the Second Lady, was our commencement speaker, which was pretty awesome. She had a nice speech and seemed like a nice lady.

I wish I had lots of nice pictures to post of my hair and make it because it looked pretty spectacular. I went to work at like 8 this morning for them to pretty me up and didn't leave until about 11. Apparently, paying customers are more important than me. But it looked really good even if I was running behind on everything.

Grades also came in today and I got all A's. Not sure how that happened, but it happened. My graduating GPA is 3.88, which isn't too shabby if I do say so myself. I've got to make my transfer choice by the end of next week so...yeah. Exciting? Or nerve wracking. Mostly nerve wracking.

Tomorrow I'm going to go see the Avengers! \o/ And then maybe I'll come home and make a decent post? We'll see. ;) Right now I'm mostly too tired to do anything, so bed. <3

Hi friends! This post has been sitting open for...8 days now. Fun times. Basically I've just been busy with end of semester stuff. Papers and tests and all that. I only have two finals left, one tomorrow and one on Tuesday. I managed to get A's on all of my papers and got a high enough score on my last statistics test that I'm exempt from the final (final grade: 90. IT'S AN A I'M TAKING IT). Right now I should be studying for my Environmental Science final but I really just feel like not.

But I did want to ask everyone about phones because most people seem to have those and as someone whose only smartphone has been a Windows phone, I am not very well versed in phone lore. My phone decided to start having buggy issues a little while ago and when I brought it to the AT&T store, turns out the stuff that was wrong with my phone was wrong with a lot of other phones too, so they rearranged things and crossupgraded me from the upgrade my mom never got and I got a new phone. Originally I was supposed to get an iPhone 3 but they didn't have any in stock so I got an Android phone instead. Note that I have basically no experience with either of these platforms. I've messed with my friend's Android a few times, but Android's tend to vary by whoever is making them. I kind of like the Android so far but I have really nothing to compare it to via the iPhone because I'm pretty sure I've only even held an iPhone once in my life.

I'm not super happy with the actual phone I got. It doesn't really fit in my hand right and the camera is the worst thing. I can exchange the phone for another one and I'm probably going to do that, but I'm not sure to what. I can go with the iPhone 3 without having to spend any extra money and I think they offer one other Android for the same price, but they didn't have a demo. I'm willing to spend some money, but I don't really want to buy a new phone. Unfortunately, AT&T offers a refurbished iPhone 4, but only online and I have to get mine through the store and I doubt they'll have it for the same low price. And I'm way too broke to go for a flat priced iPhone 4, unless someone wants to pay for it for me.

Essentially, I just want to know about your experiences with your phones? I'm sure there's probably an equal amount of iPhone and Android users on my flist, so anything you'd like to tell me will surely educate me. I know the Android marketplace has more apps that are affordable (meaning free), but iPhone doesn't have the open software issues that they have. And Android is more customizable, but the iPhone seems more polished. OTHER THAN THAT, I REALLY KNOW NOTHING. If you'd like to recommend Android phones or whatever, I am seriously all ears. I'd like to get this done sometime this weekend.

Worth mentioning is that I'm kind of leaning more towards the iPhone right now for family guilt reasons. I like the idea of having a newer system that works on the 4G network, but my grandfather was really super excited that I was going to get the same phone as him and THE GUILT IS TEARING ME UP INSIDE. I love him, I want to make him happy. *sadface*

Because you're all such beautiful people who I know will be super helpful, here's Belgium being kickass:

Three days late, but I hope everyone had a good Easter! I had breakfast with the family and then went to the beach. The weather was absolutely perfect and made me remember why people from out of town just want to stay camped out there forever. And I have a chocolate bunny, so win/win/win?

School is almost over. As soon as I finish this paper I'm working on, I'll be done with all of my assignments for the semester. Just one test and four finals and it's graduation time. Fellow students or former students, how do you deal with paper length maximums? Both of my last papers are supposed to be a page and a half, double spaced, etc, and...yeah, I'm on like 4-5 pages and basically hoping my professors aren't going to be pissed.

I'm about five episodes behind on everything. I can't wait to have like an entire day when I don't feel like I need to work on stuff for class so I can just watch ALL THE THINGS. I did see the premiere of Scandal and even though it wasn't necessarily what I thought it would be, I thought it was really good. Is anyone on my flist watching Awake? It's a show that I was excited for, but never got around to watching because of...stuff. It looks like it's going to be canceled, so I don't know if it's worth it to even try. If anyone does watch it, do you think it's worth it to pick it up?

Before I go finish this stupid paper, have some awesome things:

Best wedding invitations ever. I want to be friends with these people.

It's that time of the semester where I have a billion things to do again. A test last week, two tests this week. I only have one test and three more papers until finals so...woo?

I saw the Hunger Games on Saturday! I'm not a huge fan of the books (fun, but the ending was disappointing), but I really liked the movie. Specific thoughts (including book spoilers) )

After I saw the movie, I donated blood and got a free movie ticket! So now I can go again if I want. \o/

Thing I found on tumblr: Avengers Genderswap Fanart. I'm super excited for the movie (it was my favorite trailer before THG), but I would watch the fuck out of this movie.

While I'm talking about artistic things I love, I am pimping this webcomic (which I may have pimped before, whatever, it deserves another): El Goonish Shive. It's a fun, high school sci-fi fantasy LGBT dramady. It starts off slow (and the beginning is really anime-based it eventually spreads out to the rest of geekdom), but it's been running for ten years and there are a lot of really in depth storylines that feature magic, genderswap (TONS of genderswap), coming out stories, alien technology, and cats. The cats aren't a huge deal, but it's nice when people have cats as pets. There's eventually 8 main characters and the girls outnumber the guys. Almost half the main characters are gay or bisexual and there have relationships that are just as important as the straight relationships. The art starts out pretty ameteurish, with a newspaper comic fashion, but the art and layouts really evolve over time. Oh, and as much as it does really good stuff, it is still a webcomic written by a man for entertainment. It's not really super social justice warrior friendly, especially in the beginning, but it really respects the female characters and it's all in good fun. Now that I've talked about this almost as much as I've talked about The Hunger Games, you should really read it!
